Begin. Again.

"The beginning is the most important part of the work."
-- Plato
As I type this, it's a gray Sunday afternoon and it is snowing outside. It seems like forever ago, but back on January 6th, I completed my registration and committed myself for my 12th Pan Mass Challenge Ride for the Jimmy Fund.

The PMC ride itself won't even take place until the weekend of August 1st. That 4-1/2 months combined with the winter we've had (and still appear to be having), makes the idea of that 192-mile bike ride seem like such an eventual and abstract thing. However, the days will pass and PMC weekend will be here soon enough. So now, we begin again.

It's time to restart the training engines as well as my fund-raising engines -- both are mandatory for this endeavor. Although I haven't been able to ride my bike since December 31, I expect to be back on it next week. (I'm pretty sure I still know how to ride it.) This note marks my "getting started" effort on the PR and fundraising front for PMC2015.  So, consider yourself notified that I'll be training and hitting you up for donations to fund our fight against cancer.

The 2015 Pan Mass Challenge fundraising goal has been set at $45 million. With your help, last year I was able raise $8,356 that went directly to the Jimmy Fund for Dana-Farber. My personal goal this year is -- again with your help -- to raise at least another $8,000.

You can donate online by following this link: http://www.pmc.org/profile/DM0192
100 percent of your donation will go directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute -- the same for every other rider. So short of you personally handing cash to a doctor, nurse or researcher in person, there is no more efficient use of your donation.

Thanks for reading.
Here's to beginning. Again.
Let's do this.
